A Little About The Business:
Kyle Hamilton Photography offers wedding and event photography. The business started when I left to travel Europe at the age of 18. I wanted to find a way to bring home my memories that I could share with my friends and family. The photos from that first trip were nothing exciting, but I knew I wanted to learn to “write with light”. Building off my experiences from travel photography, I began to take portraits for friends and family, and also got involved in the ski photography industry. I was asked to do my first wedding when my sister got married, and I realized how much fun wedding photography can be. I truly enjoy getting to know my clients, and I always try and keep things fun and light. As they say, “A relaxed bride makes for a happy husband!”
What makes Fernie an attractive destination for a wedding in your mind?
Fernie is a great wedding destination for the awesome service providers. People here want to ensure that you have the best day of your life to start your new life and will go out of their way to make it happen for you!
What is one thing that you think every visitor to Fernie should experience while they are here?
If you are the fit and active type, you need to plan a day to do Heiko’s Trail. Start at Hartley Creek Road, and finish with a nice cold beer on the Island Lake Lodge Bear Deck. Make sure you summit the “middle Sister” for some of the most amazing views of the Valley and surrounding mountains. If time is in short supply, drive up to Island Lake Lodge, go for a walk around the Lake, then grab a chair on the Bear Deck, and enjoy your favorite hot summer’s day beverage.
Favourite Wedding Story:
This past summer I was asked to do a wedding at Island Lake Lodge. The couple were both helicopter pilots in the Air Force. They had both just recently finished a tour in Afghanistan. I was under the impression that they flew supply missions, and acted in a general support role. As I soon found out, they are both combat mission pilots.
As we were getting ready to leave for the ceremony, one of the bride’s maids asked the bride how she felt, “On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your nerves?”
After a brief pause, Tressa replied, “Well, probably a 2. When I leave this building, I know that I am not going to get shot at from the ground, I am not flying into hostile territory, and success of my mission is getting the man I love to say, ‘I do’. Today is the happiest day of my, I’m thankful we’re both here.”
To all the Men and Women in our Armed Forces, a sincere “Thank You” for your sacrifices.
